Lectures 3rd Session (09:00-10:30): “FROM THE PAST TO THE FUTURE OF NATURAL DYES: THE CONTRIBUTION OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL AND ANTHROPOLOGICAL RESEARCH”
 
Social sciences - anthropology, history and archaeology – have considerably contributed to our knowledge of dyestuffs and dyeing techniques in many civilisations, past and present. A multidisciplinary approach, including dye-analyses of historic and traditional textiles, provides orientations for further research into the chemistry of the dye plants selected by each civilisation in its own natural environment.
